The Fort Greene/Clinton Hill Cooperative Preschool (The Co-Op School)

The Co-op School was founded in 2003 by a group of parents who saw the need for a high quality and affordable preschool option in the Clinton Hill/Ft. Greene neighborhoods. In six years the Co-op School has matured from a small, parent-run playgroup to a fully staffed and licensed non-profit organization. The Co-op School is a parent-aided organization where “cooperative” means just that. Students’ families are responsible for the development, fundraising and maintenance of the school. Parents serve on the Board of Directors, sit on various committees, and participate in fundraising activities throughout the year.

The Co-op School has an executive director, 14 full-time teachers, two part-time assistants, all full of love and experience. We maintain a 5:1 student to teacher ratio and never fall below the state mandated ratio.

Daily enrichment activities, including Cooking, Music, Art, Show and Tell, and Movement, are taught by our staff.

We just had our famed winter Kid Disco, DJ'd by our own talented parents, and everyone had a ball! Gala plans are underway now too, and all-school playdates are on the calendar too.

Save the Date : May 8th from 7pm onward!  BAM is the venue, and auction items are rolling in. It promises to be just as swanky of a soiree as our blow-out 2009 event, which left few standing ... details and ticket info coming soon!
